This is my chance

A good friend of mine is a sportswriter for The Daily Record in New Jersey who recently found herself writing about local triathletes competing in the upcoming Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.

She sent me this quote from 65-year old Natalie Grabow, of Mountain Lakes, N.J. who will be among those lining up on Oct. 9 in Kona:

“This is my chance to be an athlete and compete. I love it. I just love it. It’s my passion. I can’t be more excited about it. I love every day of training. I love racing. I love it all.”

It is offered as a thought for the day. A reminder that we’re never too old or too young to follow our passion. A reminder that our passion should always bring us closer to who we really our, closer to our authentic selves, in a state of joy rather than another task to tick off on our to-do list.

It’s a sentiment which I desperately needed as I work my way out of a post-race funk, look inward to what really matters to me and move forward from that place of peace true passion brings.
